The Plaza Is Here to Stay!
Thanks to the support of many local businesses and residents, the Bogardus Plaza was officially approved to be a permanent part of our community by Community Board One!
Prior to this very important decision by CB1, the city had only planned to have the plaza in place for the duration of the Chambers Street construction project, which is expected to conclude in 2012. But, after hearing a presentation by the Friends of Bogardus Garden which illustrated the vast community support for the plaza, including over 300 signatures on paper and online petitions, CB1 voted in favor of keeping the plaza open, and permanently closing the small, under-used stretch of Hudson Street, and keeping the plaza part of TriBeCa.

The Future
Now that the Plaza has a future beyond 2012, we are hard at work developing plans to further enhance the space, including improving the pavement, adding more tables, chairs and possibly benches, hosting dynamic community events, and so much more... even a possible clock tower at the south end of the site!
